I found that the best way and easiest way is simply to edit an existing scene in wordpad (yes in wordpad, not any LW program). Now when I made a scene file I found that the path by which the models are loaded was exactly the same as the folder that I loaded them from. This did not work though and I found that to make my ships work ingame (I dunno if this will work for everybody) that I had to change the to Ships/*1/high/obj/*2

*1 = the name of the folder the ship is in so for the excelsior you would put Ships/fbch/........

*2 = the object name so the guns file of the excelsior I think is ........./high/obj/fbch1guns.lwo

Change those two areas according to the folder of the ship and the name of the model you are loading. Change the name of the scene from (or save it as) for example Wikkid_def.lws - this would be if the folder name of your ship is Wikkid. Once again change accordingly.

Then ya gotta edit the ship file and change the bit near the bottom where you will see the animation section. First though find a suitable shp file and make sure all the weapons in the shp file are the same as in the guns.lwo. Simply change the names in the shp file so it loads the correct ship. I'm sure you know that everything is normally in the name of the folder.

One more thing, I doubt this makes any difference, but as it worked for me the first time I tried it I have kept to this:

When you edit the scene file in notepad have the 'S' in Ships/.... as the only capital letter of the path. Also remember that if the scene you are editing loads 3 files but your ship has only 2, delete the last file and do not have file loading from two different folders.

One last thing before I go: Unless you are going to have low, medium and slow folders you must remember to delete those bits in the ranges section of the shp file.
